I heard a lot of good comment of this restaurant from friends, so really glad have a chance to go there to try. Even its take 45 minutes drive after work, we still insist on going there! Have some young spirit stay up late and try new things.
One good thing go that late is the traffic smooth, but some of driver like to highway like a car racing place so got to watch out that. and night time of China town is not that safe.
We skip dinner to wait for this meal, is kind like a night snack for me, so we are so starving all the way to there, and we saw have lot of people wait for it outside, thought might take us a while to get, you need to write your name so you will be on the waiting list, but one thing is weird no staff outside to do that, so you might need to wait for 5 -10 minutes when the staff come out to check on the list even inside have set for you already.
We didn't wait so long luckily, so they take us to seat, inside make me feel like back to Asia restaurant, really small and crowded, I guess that's part of the style from the culture. Inside have full of people even its around 10 PM that time, can you even imagine how busy the other time.
Lot of seats already took over by someone else, so they let us seat in the long table with other people, and my husband just seat in front of me the other side, honestly it's quite normal like that in Taiwan some small street stand or little restaurant own by family, have happened to me in the US, so feel kind of odd, but was quite alright.
Their menu is not too big, one page and both side, one side is Japanese roman noodle mostly, and another side is BBQ item.
Here's what we get:
Spicy roman noodle
Pork roman noodle
Can tell we were quite hungry, right?
it didn't take long to come, I was so excited, I've been a year and a half haven't eaten Japanese roman noodle, So I Probably have a too hight expectation on the meal. Noodle is thinner than I thought, similar like rice noodle in Taiwan, a soup is not that strong flavor than I think, and also not that hot (one reason might be AC is too strong) because when I ate Japanese roman in Taipei, they have much strong flavor in the soup, and they come with fresh garlic, in here you need to ask for it.
I know I can't be too picky Japanese or Chinese food in here because they need to fit in foreigner market, I get it, but they do taste more like Chinese meal for me.
I like their decoration, make you feel like in Japan, I can see them making food through the big glass window, which is kind of neat!
I love their BBQ item, special the grilled squid, the sauce taste like Taiwan, I try to eat less meat possible, so other two my husband eat it. he can't even tell cow tongue, thought its lamb, so I guess not as scary then we picture.
